Bobcats

Background

Bobcats are native to Central Texas. They are secretive and highly adaptable animals, so they are rarely seen. They are nocturnal. They are about twice the size of a house cat. Bobcats eat rodents, rabbits, chickens, and even small deer.

Fun Facts

​

  • Bobcats have excellent eye sight.

​​

  • Bobcats have a short bobtail and pointed ears with black tufts on the top.

​​

  • They can jump up to 10 feet!

 

Bobcat Concerns

​

Unless food is scarce, bobcats will not prey on domestic animals.

 

To deter a bobcat from your yard, make it uncomfortable – loud noises, motion-activated sprinklers, play a radio outside, don’t leave out food, clear out hiding/denning spots, spray coyote/wolf urine.
