Bobcats

bobcat8 copy.jpg

Background

Bobcats are native to Central Texas. They are secretive and highly adaptable animals, so they are rarely seen. They are nocturnal. They are about twice the size of a house cat. Bobcats eat rodents, rabbits, chickens, and even small deer.

Fun Facts

  • Bobcats have excellent eye sight.

  • Bobcats have a short bobtail and pointed ears with black tufts on the top.

  • They can jump up to 10 feet!

Bobcat Concerns

Unless food is scarce, bobcats will not prey on domestic animals.

To deter a bobcat from your yard, make it uncomfortable – loud noises, motion-activated sprinklers, play a radio outside, don’t leave out food, clear out hiding/denning spots, spray coyote/wolf urine.
