New Facility Needs

Wildlife Rescue of Central Texas is opening a wildlife rehabilitation facility in Bastrop, TX. Our dedicated group of rehabilitators is already taking in wildlife from Bastrop and 8 surrounding counties and working out of our homes while we work toward opening a facility dedicated to the care of injured and orphaned wildlife.

When we began this journey, our vision looked very different. Initially, we planned to lease two acres of land for our wildlife rehabilitation facility. When Lost Pines Animal Alliance, through the generosity of the Mary E. Barina estate, gifted us the property, we were thrilled! But owning the land came with its own set of unexpected expenses: installing a septic system, building a fence, and beginning construction from the ground up.

We also believed that securing a septic permit from Bastrop County would be all we needed, given the small scope of our project. However, due to new regulations introduced over the past year, we were required to submit a full civil development plan through an engineering firm. This added a significant cost, not only for the plans themselves, but also for everything needed to implement them: equipment rental, fuel, a large detention pond, a pad site, a parking lot, a new driveway culvert, and even a fire hydrant.

The exciting news? We broke ground last month! The detention pond and pad site are nearly complete, and we’re getting closer to making our vision a reality. We also ordered the modular building which will serve as the wildlife intake and rehabilitation center.

Now, we’re reaching out to you, our community, to help us complete this project and open our doors before the end of the year. Every donation brings us closer to welcoming injured and orphaned wildlife into a safe and caring space.

There are many ways to support Wildlife Rescue of Central Texas during these final stages of construction.

Will you join us in making a lasting impact for the animals who need us? Together, we can build a place where wildlife are given a second chance to heal and return home.

How can you help?

Donate to the cost of general construction

Your donation will help cover the cost of development of the property, equipment rental, and unforeseen costs we have not encountered yet.

Sponsor a room in our new wildlife rehabilitation building

Your donation will help cover the cost of development of the property, equipment rental, and unforeseen costs we have not encountered yet. Please reach out to us about sponsorship at hayley@wildliferescuectx.org.

Donate materials

We are building a privacy fence around the two-acre property, a fawn rehabilitation enclosure, and a large raptor flight cage, all of which we will need fencing and lumber to construct. If you know of a company willing to donate or discount materials, we can save a lot of money. We will also be building pre-release enclosures for wildlife after construction is complete and will need a variety of wire, lumber, roofing, and pea gravel. Please reach out if you know anyone who can help with this: info@wildliferescuectx.org.
