foxes.jpeg

Background

Gray foxes are the most common in Central Texas, but red foxes also live in East and Central Texas. They are great climbers and have a varied diet consisting of cottontails, rodents, birds, fruit, veggies, and invertebrates. Foxes make dens in trees, rocks, and brush piles.

Fun Facts

  • Foxes are more like cats than dogs, even though they are in the canid family.

  • They have semi-retractable claws.

Fox Concerns

Foxes are reclusive/shy and are more scared of you than you are of them.

Deterrents – motion lighting, loud noises, odor deterrents (cayenne, ammonia, wolf urine), don’t leave out pet food
